Tell us your latest news.
Blood Magic is now available on Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Nobles Nook, World Castle Publishing website, and the paperback is on its way to a store near you. We are also doing a few contests and giveaways to get the word out about The Draven Witch Series and get people talking about it.
When and why did you begin writing?
Brandy: I started writing when I was younger and loved telling a story. Me and my dog went on some great adventures together.
Tabetha: I began writing when I was about 13, it was mostly to vent and get all those teenage angst out. We both found at an early age that writing was an easier way for us to express ourselves.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Brandy: I like spending time with my family. I have a wonderful man and two girls that I try to spend time with when Tab and I aren’t working.
Tabetha: I go to school full time online at Capella, working on getting my bachelor’s in psychology, so I juggle that between writing. I also have a 3 yr old little girl that keeps me on my toes and whether I’m writing or not writing she’s right there by mommy.
What inspired you to write your first book?
Brandy: My children’s imagination. You watch them and see how vivid it is and how they can tell a story. They inspire me every day.
Tabetha: The first book I wrote was inspired by a broken heart. It is still sitting unfinished collecting dust. Every now and then I pull it out and work on it but just don’t have the heart to send it out into the world. But my father was also a big inspiration. He could tell a story that would leave you hanging on for more. I always wanted to be able to tell a story like that.
What do you think makes a good story?
I think we both agree that good strong characters always makes a good story. We both enjoy something that keeps us guessing and on the edge of our seats. We also both enjoy a good life in there too. I suppose that’s why Blood Magic has a little of it all.
How do you want readers to feel after they read your stories?
Of course we both want them to want more. We want them to be able to connect to our characters and hang on to every word until the very end. We want them to be excited about the next one in the series, or looking for more books that we have written. We are looking to make a fan for life.
What is your favorite character out of all the books you have written?
I think we both would agree on Tristan, he is the comic relief Demon Hunter in the Draven Witch Series. He says the things most people don’t have the nerve to say and doesn’t care whose feelings get hurt when he says it. We both think he’s going to be that character everyone is going to want to know more about. We can already hear the fans, “Is there going to be a Demon Hunter Series?”
What influences your creativity of your characters?
We both use a little of ourselves in our characters. Want them to be as real as possible. Like Tristan for instance, he’s Brandy’s baby, all those witty sayings, all that comes from her head. Another example would be our main character, Renee Draven, when she’s having a breakdown or bitch moment, Tabetha does that creative work. We both use what may be going on in our own life to help with certain scenes.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Currently we are working on Blood Vengeance Book 2 of the Draven Witch Series and it’s really got some major twists and turns coming. We wanted to shock our readers and leave them saying, “Oh my, I didn’t even see that coming.” Our lead main character Renee Draven is going to find out some interesting information that will reveal secrets and lead her up to s shocking conclusion. Which all of that will lead into book 3 and then end the series with book 4. Blood Magic book 1 introduces the reader to the cast of characters and lures them into this world of the Draven witches and prepares them for a kick ass new series.
What are some of the goals and future plans with your writing?
Our ultimate goal would be able to write full time and make a living doing what we love. Of course we would also love for the Draven Witch Series to take off and be a worldwide hit. We would love to be right up there with Stephenie Meyers or Charlaine Harris, hell even Stephen King. To be able to have worldwide recognition would be a dream come true. We just want to do what we love and have people love it.
